Warrior Prayers: Day 4 (Integrity) & Link UP day
Today we pray for Integrity (page 17).
Read pages 18-19 for tomorrow.
Wow, this is not a common word that we use today, but it is powerful. I would love to have someone tell me that my son has integrity, but I need to be diligent to pray for it and teach it to my son. Integrity is someone who stands up for what is right no matter who is around.
From Brooke:
I have a feeling that integrity is probably caught rather than bought. Pausing to help our sons understand why we chose the way of integrity over what might have seemed to be a better or easier way trains their minds to ponder the blameless way.
"He who is steadfast in righteousness will attain life." Proverbs 11:9
Question for discussion:
*How do you demonstrate integrity to your little sons?
Also, it's link up day! If you have blogged about this prayer challenge, please link up so we can read each others thoughts.
Tomorrow (9/10) we pray for Avoiding Foolishness (page 20).
I can demonstrate integrity to my son by the way I respond in a crisis. I get pretty uptight when I can't find something and I run around searching high and low and muttering things like, where in the world is that? I get agitated and I see my son copying my behavior. So not only in this type of situation, but in everything I do, I am a model. So I want to model to my son what I want him to do! That's an area I am in process!
ReplyDeleteI could not get my blog link to "link up" - so here it is instead:

The last two days I've noticed how my three year old son will come up to me and say, "do you need some help with that?" or "thank you for ..." I've been so touched by this! It definitely makes up for the frustrating times during the day! :)
But I can also say that it makes a difference how my attitude is. If I'm complaining, he will probably complain too. But if he starts complaining, and I instead say, "hey, you know what? God gave us a cooler day to enjoy Let's thank Him for today" - it makes a difference!
INTEGRITY: is a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions. That is one of the many definitions I found. The reading and the word integrity itself really got me thinking. Integrity is something that I must work on myself, I have my actions and values which I mainly keep to myself. Maybe I should express my own actions and values to my boys even though they are young, and maybe they will realize that it is ok to stand for what you believe in. I also this evening will pray to God for myself to do better in this area of expressing myself more openly and freely and share all with my sons.
