Today we pray for A Servant's Heart (page23).
From Brooke:
Jesus led by serving. And He said that if we want to be first, we'll need to be last. He said that loving others, serving them, was serving Him- loving Him.
"The greatest among you shall be your servant." Matthew 23:11
Try finding ways to serve with your family.
Question for discussion:
*What kinds of projects have you done with your children to teach them about serving?
Just recently we had a BIG play room clean up, I explained to my oldest son, some stuff has to go, you can decide what goes, but it will be donated to other kids that might not have toys. Our food pantry at church had announced it's low, so I intend to do a shopping run for necessities and would like the boys help with that. Both boys love to help cook and bake so eventually would love to do something like help a new mom out with a dinner for her and her family or something like that. Already my son is talking about cleaning more and donating some more.
ReplyDeleteLast year on Christmas Eve, we put together sack bags of sandwiches, fruit, and warm socks. Then we headed into downtown Vienna and handed out the bags to homeless, disabled, or beggars. For several, we had our then two and a half year old actually go up with his papa to give the bags to someone. That really warmed my heart. We will be out-of-country this next Christmas, so maybe we can do something in the area where we will be staying.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't been real intentional about doing "service" projects, but we invite people into our home all the time and we things away all the time. I took Shrade to the food bank to help out once. Right now we are working on serving our family like helping mommy with the baby.
