What's Cooking? Blueberry Banana Baked Oatmeal

I'm having Shrade help me more and more in the kitchen.  He just loves it when I ask him to cook!  I try to let him help me make things that he is going to eat like Blueberry Banana Baked Oatmeal!  I get all my baked oatmeal recipes from Lynn's Kitchen Adventures.  This time I added blueberries (from our garden that have been frozen) to the oatmeal and it's divine!

January Monthly Plan

*Bible Verse:  2 Corinthians 3:18 "We will be changed into His likeness."      Songs for Saplings
We are making a little book for these verses and we sing them everyday during our "Bible study" time.

Bible verse activities from Totally Tots

*Brightly Beaming Resources:  We are using the Preparatory Curriculum for 2-4 year olds for Shrade.
I try to blog about what we do for each "weekly" activity.  It takes us about 2 weeks for each theme.  We will be done with the Prep Curric when we reach 26 lessons!  Not many more left.  :)  Then we will start The Letter of the Week Curriculum for preschool age.

*Brightly Beaming Baby:  Jessna is now 8 months old for the Nursery Age lessons.  Each lesson is 2 weeks long and includes literature, poems, nursery rhymes, Bible, speech & vocab, classical music, lullaby, foreign language (I'm going to do some Spanish and sign language), baby game, exercise and baby massage.  I love these lessons because they give me a focus on what I can do to entertain my baby!  It's fun and she loves it.  I hope to do more things with her!

*Sensory Play:
-water play- loves this!
-playdough

We will be using a lot of these activities when we learn the letters!
*Literature Connection
We will do some snow theme activities and read The Snowy Day.  (I'm doing a Teaching Preschool online class right now and will be using my ideas for this)

*Fun With Colors
Every month this year I will pick a different color to focus on for one week.  For January I chose BLUE!  I will be using ideas from Teach Your Tot and Totline 123 Colors : Color Day Activities for Young Children (1-2-3 Series: Ages 3-6) by Jean Warren.

*Daily Music time: Songs from Music Notes and CD's we get at the library.

*Pre-Math Activities
I'll be using this book Totline 123 Math: Pre-Math Activities for Working With Young Children (1-2-3 Series, Math: Ages 3-6) by Jean Warren.  I'll try to blog about some of the activities that we do.

Free and Fun Friday: Making Crayons

My friend Alison had a recipe for "Muffin-cup Crayons" that I decided to try with Shrade. We have quite a few homeless crayons and stubs so it was fun to make new colors!

I'm Guest Posting over at From Cristin to Mommy

Have you ever thought of making your own baby food?  Well, when I had my son about 3 years ago, I decided that when he was 6 months old that I was going to feed him food that I made instead of buying baby food at the store.  Why?  Well, first, being on one income we had very limited funds and to me, baby food can get rather expensive.  Also, whole foods are amazing for children and adults.  And, I love to cook!  I immediately found a bunch of websites that showed exactly what to do and I bought this book- Super Baby Food, (2nd) Second Edition by Ruth Yaron, which has been the best resource for me so far.  Now, I have a daughter who is almost 6 months old and I'm starting the homemade food journey again!  I have so many more ideas, but today I'll just give you some basic first things to do.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!  I hope you have enjoyed my Christmas Books series!  We had a lot of fun reading the different stories that shared the birth of Christ.  And I really extended myself by doing a craft with each book.  Be sure to make comments on any of my Christmas Books posts to enter to win a children's Bible.  Giveaway ends on December 31.  Tell me what  favorite book or craft that we did that you liked.  I LOVE comments!

Today we are going to make cookies for our neighbors and also do a fun and interactive Christmas story.  Here is a resource that I found from Family Life. What God Wants for Christmas is a nativity activity where kids open up 7 little boxes and the last one is surprise!  What do you think God wants for Christmas?  YOU!
