Toddler Learning Notebook (age 2)

 

 

My little girl turned 2 in May.  When my son was 2 I used Brightly Beaming Resources (FREE)  as a fun way to make learning intentional.  I will be doing the same with Jessna starting in September!

 

I plan to do two lessons a month.

 

This time I have made a Toddler Learning Notebook just for her to do while big brother is working on his.  I include in it all lesson plans, printables, Bible verses and other resources that I will be using.

 

What is in the Toddler Learning Notebook?

I will most likely be adding more things to this notebook as the year goes along.

 

I did not use a notebook when my son was 2 and I honestly don't like worksheets for little ones so young, but for me this is a way to organize what I want to do with my little girl and IF she wants to color, draw or do something else, that is perfectly fine.

 

I do not recommend worksheets for little ones, but I'm just putting this together as I see the resources are available.  I may abandon the worksheets if she has no interest, but I thought I might try.  I am very hands on and this will be just another hands on activity- fine motor skill of holding crayons and do a dot markers.

 

Since I have an older child who will be using his own notebook, I thought it would be fun for little sis to copy him.

I am so excited to finally be planning some REAL lessons and being more organized.  It was so hard to narrow down my choices and I am not even sure I have completely done that, but I do have some main resources that I will be using this year as we embark on 1 more year before Kindergarten at home.  I also am going to start doing lessons with my 2 year old. I will be making plans all summer!  I am reading Homeschooling 101 by Erica at Confessions of a Homeschooler and she has me so pumped!   So, here are the plans:

Brightly Beaming Resources Week #26: Airplanes

This is our last week with the Brightly Beaming Resources Prep Curriculum.  I can't believe it's been 1.5 years since I started. Shrade had just turned 2 and now he's 3.5.   I had no idea I would actually do all of this and I think I got more creative in the process as well as I had to make things a bit more challenging as Shrade got older.

This week we learned about airplanes.  We had a lot of fun pretending to fly around the house.  And whenever we were outside we would look for contrails.  We even drew grey contrails on a poster one day.  For letter Z, we made a zebra and built letter Z with blocks.  For 100, we counted 100 blocks and made them into a shape of an airplane!  And on the last day we made paper airplanes.  And our Nursery Rhyme was Old King Cole. What a fun week!

Brightly Beaming Resources Week #25: Rabbits

This week we learned about rabbits.  We hopped 25 times (actually several times in a row). We made parallelograms with craft sticks.  Shrade can even say "paralellogram."  We sang songs with letter Y and had fun acting out our nursery rhyme Jack Be Nimble.  We made a Y with yellow items and a cute rabbit puppet.  We had our stuffed bunny hop on number cards 1-25 as we counted. And we had lots of fun reading our books and trying to do all of our projects around little Jessna who is also interested in learning.

Brightly Beaming Resources Week #24: Dogs

The week we learned about dogs.  We don't have a dog (we have a cat and chickens) so we went out to find dogs.  We looked for them on our walks and watch as many pass by our house with their owners.  We also went to a pet store!  Before we went to the pet store we made this little My First Pet Care Riddle Book from First School. We counted 24 "dog bones" (craft sticks) and dropped them in a bucket.  We made an X-ray for X.  I cut out the white bones and he already knew they were bones!  The books we read about dogs were super cute.  Check out my list below.  Our nursery rhyme was Old Mother Hubbard.
