The Berenstain Bears: God Bless the Animals Book Review

America’s Favorite Bear Family Teaches Kids about Nature and Animals in a New Berenstain Bears Book

Parents will enjoy reading to their children about God’s beautiful creatures, with help from the Bear family, in THE BERENSTAIN BEARS: GOD BLESS THE ANIMALS (Zonderkidz; September 2012; $6.99).

With its charming illustrations and easy-to-read text, GOD BLESS THE ANIMALS is essential for children. They’ll get help with their reading while learning about many woodland creatures, the habitat of each, and how God shines his many blessings on them.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Stan and Jan Berenstain introduced the first Berenstain Bear books in 1962. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too. Since the late 80s, he has been very much involved as a writer and illustrator with his family’s creation, the Berenstain Bears. He continued to work with his mother, Jan, creating new books, up until her death this year. The antics and activities of Mike’s three children have provided inspiration for many Berenstain Bears books over the years. Though Stan and Jan passed away in 2005 and 2012, respectively, Mike continues to create the delightful Bear adventures from a studio in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country. www.berenstainbears.com

My review:
This was a great book for my children as it was interactive with flaps.  There is very little text on each page so my little girl was tickled to quickly lift the flaps as we made our way through the book.   Kids will learn that God created all the animals and that he had a purpose and plan for each.  This is a perfect introduction to animals and their habitats.
