The Passionate Mom Review and Giveaway!!

The Passionate Mom by Susan Merrill is a book written for moms who are passionate to parent their children in purposeful ways.  Susan's practical and biblical building blocks come from the book of Nehemiah in the Bible.  There are ten ways a mother needs to cultivate as parent well: perception, pondering, passion, prayer, patience, preparation, purpose, planning, problem solving and perseverance.  Each chapter outlines solid principles with Susan's real life examples, confessions and powerful encouragement to inspire moms to dare to be the parent that God has desired for them.

I thought I was a passionate mom, but after reading this book I feel like I've been given the tools to really be the passionate mom I want to be.  I was very intrigued with Susan's connection of how to be a mom with the story of Nehemiah.  She strategically wrote step by step exactly how to embrace the high calling of a mom and rely totally on God for all that is needed.  She identified so many areas that I need to work on and also addressed areas I hadn't even thought of yet like dating, computers, cell phones and social media (my kids are still very young).  I was very impressed, encouraged and inspired to pursue being a passionate mom.  This book is a definite must have for moms who need biblical, practical and honest truth to pursue God's desire for motherhood in their lives.

Hmm biggest challenge...just one? Probably time management. For myself and the kids. Or lack of motivation.

My biggest challenge would probably be trying to figure out how to get through to my strongest willed child. We have five kids and all are very strong willed, but everything we do with the other four, doesn't work with our second youngest. He runs rampant and never listens. We're definitely totally stuck on what to do with him and how to teach him anything.

Just one challenge? ;) Lately I've been trying to think of the children's weaknesses in terms of their strengths. For example, how can I encourage the stubbornness in a good way? Another challenge we are working through is bedtime battles!!! Aaargh!

I have been struggling with my patience lately. So, many people say, "Oh, your patience is outstanding", I just don't see it, I always feel I'm losing my patience, through out the day:-(

This sounds like a great book. I think the biggest challenge I face as a mother of 5 is how to balance being the mom of a teenager and a 2 year old. Sometimes it is hard to remember that my oldest isn't 2 like her little sister. I also sometimes wonder if I am giving each child enough individual attention.

My struggles are with balancing home and the children. With 4 little ones patience and energy both wear a little thin. Ok a LOT then

My biggest challenge is finding ways to spend focused time in play with my kids that doesn't bore me to death after five minutes. I want to become a mom that can play for hours!

My biggest struggle is not losing my temper when the children misbehave.
