Warrior Prayers: Day 7 (Purity)

Today we pray for Purity (page 22).

This is one of the hottest topics of our generation and I want to address it early with my son.

Hal and Melanie Young, the parents of 6 boys and the author of Raising Real Men: Surviving, Teaching and Appreciating Boys say that we have to "get there first and be the first with the most." We need to open and honest and develop frank and honest communication from the very start.  We need to pray for protection for them and pray they will be strong enough to flee temptation and pray for the princesses they will one day claim!

"And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as He is pure." ~1 John 3:3, NLT

This looks like a fabulous book!

One of our moms in this prayer group is praying for her future son-in-law!  Those of us with girls can do this and what a fabulous blessing for our daughters and sons to be!

Tomorrow (9/13) we pray for A Servant's Heart (page 23).

Good Afternoon everyone! I did get reading and prayers in over the weekend but just couldn't get a sec to comment. This afternoon after saying the prayers for purity, the last scripture really spoke to me...May my sons be blameless and innocent, a child of God without blemish in the midst if a crooked and twisted generation(Philippians 2:15), it is hard now to explain to my 5 year some of the twisted things that go on around us, I can't even imagine what I will have to explain when he gets older! I will be praying this one over today and I feel it deserves to be prayed daily, with some of the things that go on in the world and our lives.

This IS a crooked and twisted generation, isn't it?! That last verse really resonated with me as well. What a challenge this is to raise boys in a world where purity - of the mind, body, and spirit - is laughed at and ridiculed so prevalently. I, too, will be praying this one frequently!

Let's pray for NEW generation that OUR sons will be different. Break the current trend. With God and prayer ALL things are possible!

Amen, Shonda. I'm a high school counselor and the things I hear on a daily basis terrify me for my boys. We definitely need a turn in the tide. Purity has gone out the window so I am going to be praying, praying, praying for my boys, this generation and change!
